TJB-INC was started in 1969 when our President & CEO (Ted J. Greiner) was a local young wipper snapper. Ted grew the company over the years and became a corporation in 1981. Ted's background in horticulture and design has made TJB-INC a leader in the Connecticut landscaping & water gardening community.
TJB-INC started building ponds and water features in the mid-1980's. In the mid '90s, we were introduced to Aquascape and their revolutionary pond products. Ted met a young man at a water garden seminar in Hartford, CT who said he was on a mission to "change the way ponds were built". It was a young Greg Witstock and boy did he have a positive attitude along with a new company called Aquascape Designs. After the seminar, we attended a Build-A-Pond in Trumbull CT. We then experimented with several of ADI's systems in our water garden installations and fell in love with the Aquascape way of building a pond that worked "with Mother Nature instead of against her". Over the years, as Aquascape tested new and better ways to achive cleaner, healthier, more maintenance free ponds, and TJB-INC was right there along side utilizing the latest and greatest in our own installations here in Southern New England.
TJB-INC has been a CAC (Certified Aquascape Contractor) since 2002. Ted was the first CAC in the New England Section of the Northeast. We have installed over 500 custom water features since joining in to the Aquascape Revolution.
TJB-INC designs, installs, maintains, and repairs a wide variety of water features from your basic pond to complete stormwater management solutions. If you are instested in smaller patio or backyard pond, a pondless waterfall, ornamental fountain, rain garden, rain water capture & harvest, or larger commercial projects, TJB-INC is the local contractor for you. We service the entire Southern New England area from our Hamden, Connecticut location.
We invite you to visit our extensive web site and complete on-line store to learn more about our company and the products we sell. You can find us at www.TJB-INC.com & www.ShopTJB.com Products are also available for local pick up at our Hamden location. We also have shipping centers in CA, NC, IL, GA, & CT.
In 1995, TJB-INC purchased land in a new industrial park in our home town of Hamden, CT. We moved all of our operations to the new location and had a work force of 23 employees. Over the years, we reduced our work force to 8 team members and concentrated on the nich market of Water Gardens & Synthetic Putting Greens. We still design and install soft & hardscapes, but our passion lies in the art of designing & constructing custom water features.
If you are ever in our area, we invite you to come by and visit our Display Ponds & Gardens. They are located @ 12 Crest Way, Hamden CT. 06514 We have 11 different waterfalls, 3 ponds, 4 streams, 2 bridges, Dozens of speciman plants, hundreds of blooming perennials & annuals, hardscape & lighting displays. If you can remember to bring some Honey Nut Cheereos with you, our fish are trained to be hand fed. Just walk over to the stone bridge and watch the fish come to you!
The best part is, our displays are open 365/24/7 so you can come by and visit at anytime you want. To view photos on line, go to http://www.tjb-inc.com/gallery.htm or look below at our picture galleries.
The National Wildlife Federation certified that our Display Gardens were an Official Certified Wildlife Habitat site. Any habitat enthusiast can create a certified habitat and learn the rewards of gardening for wildlife. In order to become certified, a property must provide the four basic elements that all wildlife need-food , water, cover and places to raise young — and must employ sustainable gardening practices. Habitat restoration is critical in urban and suburban settings where commercial and residential development encroaches on natural wildlife areas, limiting the availability of resources wildlife need to survive and thrive. In addition to providing for wildlife, certified habitats conserve our natural resources by reducing or eliminating the need for fertilizers, pesticides, and/or irrigation water, which ultimately protects the air, soil and water throughout our communities.
Our gardens are also on the Connecticut Garden & Landscape Trail which is a joint project of the Connecticut Nursery & Landscape Association, Connecticut Greenhouse Growers Association, along with funding from the Connecticut Department of Agriculture. Its purpose is to guide citzens of all ages to the beautiful facilities of Connecticut's green industry - Nurseries, Garden Centers, Greenhouses, Landscapers, & Display Gardens. Admission to the Trail is free. For more information, link to www.CTGardenTrail.com or call 1-800-562-0610.
